Education for your child at School in the Pines

Admission to School in the Pines is on a rolling, ongoing basis beginning each August for the following school year. While most families complete registration during the fall and winter months, we continue to keep our programs open as long as space is available.

General Info

Yes, immunization records are required for enrollment. You’ll need to provide up-to-date immunization documentation for your child as part of the admission process, in accordance with state health regulations.

We provide healthy snacks for all children throughout the day. For lunch, parents can either pack a nutritious meal for their child or opt to purchase lunch through the school. We partner with local establishments like Jack in the Box and Jason’s Deli to provide lunch options. Simply pay the school, and we’ll handle the rest.

If your child gets hurt or sick while at school, we will immediately provide appropriate care, such as first aid or comfort, and contact you right away. If the situation requires further medical attention, we will follow our emergency procedures and ensure your child gets the care they need as quickly as possible.

We follow the local school district’s decisions for weather-related closures. In case of unexpected closures, we will notify parents promptly through our Brightwheel app and email communication.

Infants

We follow each infant’s individual schedule as provided by the parents. Our caregivers ensure that feeding and nap times are consistent with your child’s routine to provide a comfortable and familiar environment.

We maintain a strict cleanliness protocol, including regular sanitation of toys and surfaces. All staff are trained in infant CPR and First Aid, and we adhere to safe sleep practices to ensure your baby’s well-being.

Toddlers

We work closely with parents to support potty training, following the routines you establish at home. Our staff is patient and encouraging, making the process positive and stress-free for your child.

Our toddler program includes a variety of age-appropriate activities that promote physical, cognitive, and social development. These include group play, art projects, music, and storytime, all designed to enhance learning and social interaction.

Preschool

We use the Treetop Friends Curriculum, which focuses on language development, literacy, math, and social skills. This curriculum is designed to fully prepare children for a successful transition to kindergarten.

We regularly assess each child’s development through observations and structured assessments. We track progress in key areas like literacy, math, and social skills, and we communicate with parents through regular updates and conferences.

Children attending 9-1 will not nap. Children staying pas 1:00 will have a nap time, however nap time for PreK is short quiet time where children can sleep or rest, followed by enrichment activities at the table or floor. 

Children entering Jr. PreK (three year olds) and PreK (four year olds) must be potty-trained, but if space allows, we can accommodate some young threes in our two year old classroom until they are potty independent. .

School-Age

 Yes, we provide both before and after-school care. Morning care includes time to prepare for the school day, while after-school care offers a range of activities like homework help, arts and crafts, and outdoor play.

During school holidays and summer break, we offer full-day care with engaging activities, including in-house field trips, themed days, and our popular Summer Camp program, which is filled with exciting and educational experiences.
